Frequently asked questions

WHERE ARE YOU BASED? Johannesburg, South Africa but Cape Town is our home away from home.

ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL? Of course, we love to travel all over our beautiful country as well as destinations all over the world. Anywhere you need and want us.

WHAT ABOUT BOOKING YOU? We work on a first come, first serve basis like the rest of the industry. Sadly we cannot hold dates for you without a booking deposit.

HOW DOES THE PAYMENT PROCESS WORK?  A signed copy of the Orpen Films Invoice and a 50% deposit secures your date. Please note that this is a non-refundable deposit. Balance of the payment is to be paid in full 14 days before your wedding day. All footage remains property of Orpen Film Co. RAW footage will be deleted 2 months after delivery of your film. Your RAW footage can be purchased and will be delivered on a hard drive. Please take note of your package hours as overtime will be billed after the wedding and payable within 30 days of the invoice date. 

DO YOU HAVE A BACKUP VIDEOGRAPHER? We use this option at our own discretion. We're both highly capable of capturing your entire wedding day on our own. If either of us can’t make it for some reason and we feel a second shooter would be handy, we have trusted cinematographers on standby should we request their assistance. 

HOW DO WE GET OUR FILMS? We will email you a Dropbox link for the digital delivery of your wedding stories. We will then request delivery details so that we may courier over your USB flash drives with your wedding films.

WHY DO I RECEIVE A USB FLASH DRIVE WITH ALL OF MY FINISHED DIGITAL FILES? DVDs, although great, do deteriorate and stop working over time. So receiving your finished files Digitally as well as on USB Flash Drives will allow you to copy the files to multiple computers, multiple hard drives and/or store them in the Cloud or your own DropBox for safe keeping and future proofing. This also makes sharing your wedding day with all of your nearest and dearest rather simple and cost effective - it is as easy as copying the files over to another USB Flash Drive or sharing a "can view" link from DropBox. It’s important that once you receive your files to take the proper steps to backup and safeguard your investment. 

WHEN DO WE GET OUR FILMS? Usually it takes us 2 to 3 months to get your films ready, but this can happen sooner or a bit later. The last thing we would want to do is rush over your wedding, just to get it done by the deadline. The memories we craft will be there for you in the years to come and if we need more time to create something beautiful for you, we will notify you of the extra time needed.

WHY DO WE NEED A PROFESSIONAL VIDEOGRAPHER? It is true that a picture is worth a thousand words, but video is a thousand words and pictures. In the end, your wedding film will be edited in a unique style, as a handcrafted visually, stunning product and what is most important: series of moving images of yourselves, your friends and your family, which create a memory for years to come that can never be replaced by photography. It’s emotion in motion. You will be able to hand down your wedding film to your children and even grandchildren and show them how you your celebrated your day of love.

CAN WE MAKE CHANGES? You can make changes within reason. You have seen our work and you like our style so you have an idea of what we will produce. However we want it to be perfect for you and there maybe a shot you want replaced, etc. So we are more than happy to do this to ensure it is just right for you.

CAN WE CHOOSE OUR OWN MUSIC? If you would like a specific song we will consider your choice but we pride ourselves in our song selections therefore we will also choose music that we think will fit your wedding story.

HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP A COPY OF OUR WEDDING FOOTAGE? Once the video is signed off and you have received your final copies we will keep the raw footage and final films for 2 months after which time it will be deleted. If you would like your raw footage this can be purchased from us.
