What was the most memorable part of your day?

When thinking about our wedding day, what is really memorable is how much we loved and enjoyed the day as a whole. It was the BEST day! There are so many beautiful moments that come to mind. A particular moment that left an impression on my heart was right before the ceremony. Arriving at the church with the most surreal feeling that the dream we had both had of marrying each other was finally here. There was such a deep joy at that moment. Of course so much joy as well in the moments we exchanged vows and were pronounced husband and wife. Jesse especially loved the time together right after the ceremony on the way to the venue where it was just the two of us in the car. It was our first moments together as a married couple and we got to share in the wonder that we just got married!

Any wedding planning advice you’d like to share?

Yes! Enjoy the season as much as possible. It is such a special time with some of the most joyful moments along the way. A piece of advice that we received, in the beginning, is to stay true to who you are. Individually, as well as who you are as a couple and what you hope for in your special day. This may sound easy but planning a wedding can be overwhelming with so many ideas and opinions coming your way. This piece of advice took off so much of the pressure and allowed us to make decisions that we were both at peace with and ultimately the happiest with. Asking family and friends to help us along the way also made all the difference. For us, this became essential in the last 4 months as we had to plan our wedding from overseas after moving abroad. We saw how much everyone loved getting involved and having them part of the preparations made the planning even more special. Very important for us was to take time to prepare as a couple aside from all the logistics of the day, to connect and think about how we want to grow in the new season of marriage. This was an amazing way to keep things in perspective and to remind us that what we were planning towards was even more than just a wedding day.

What was most important to you when planning your wedding?

We tried to always make meaningful decisions about what we chose for the wedding day. We put a lot of effort into planning the ceremony because for us it was the most important part of the day. The part of the day where we vowed to love and honour each other for the rest of our lives. We had a traditional Catholic nuptial mass in the church I grew up in with the music of the orchestra from the church parish that Jesse was confirmed in. For the venue, we wanted a relaxed setting where we could enjoy the afternoon in the lovely green lawns and then end off the evening in the warm/woody feel of the reception venue. We ultimately wanted our wedding day to be a celebration of our love and to share the joy of the day with those dearest to us.

How did you choose your wedding videographer?

We love this story! We came across Orpen Films about 4 years ago. I came across one of the wedding films online and sent it to Jesse right away. I still remember how speechless I was after the first video I watched. (Coincidentally the first video I came across happened to be of the couple who were the photographers for our wedding day - crazy how that turned out!) There is something so special about how the videographers capture the wedding day. The moments that shine through are so real and so honest. We wanted to look back on our wedding day and have those real moments stay with us to cherish forever. So long before we were even engaged and still mere students we made our first decision about our future wedding. We would choose the Orpens as our videographers. And we couldn’t have asked for any better. Along with being so very gifted, Terence & Derryn are also the most warm-hearted couple! We feel so blessed to have our very own Orpen wedding film and the most beautiful memories to marvel in for years.
