Ané & James // All things Bloom

Some celebrations have a pulse all their own. From the moment we arrived at Ané & James' Italian-inspired pre-wedding gathering, it felt as though the air itself had softened, filled with warmth, laughter, and a gentle sense of belonging.

The evening was a dream. Amalfi Coast flair, citrus and candlelight, wine flowing, and conversations unfolding between new friends, old friends, and all the people who matter most. It wasn't just a gathering; it was a weaving of hearts. The kind of night where the moon rises to witness the beauty below. I remember stepping back for a moment near the edge of the pool, watching the full moon glow just to the right—and in the foreground, a gathering of souls gently becoming one new family. A beginning, quietly taking root.

And Ané… what a vision. Graceful, radiant, composed, she didn't just light up a room, she brought it still. And James, grounded, eloquent, and quietly magnetic. You felt his warmth the moment he entered a room, not from showmanship but from substance. The kind of man whose confidence comes from kindness and whose humility is deeply anchored in the love he was raised with.

That love was everywhere. It spilled out in the moment his mom placed her hand on her heart and threw her head back in what can only be described as pure, unfiltered delight during their first kiss.

It beamed from Ané's father—undeniably one of the most handsome men in the room—as he stood tall and proud beside his beautiful daughter.  They did not just have guests; they were the roots of a remarkable love story.

At the reception, an art exhibition of James' fathers and family pieces quietly told the story of his upbringing. One sculpture in particular—Rain Taster by Frank van Reenen, a South African sculptor we deeply admire—stood with presence amongst heirlooms and memories.

But there was one moment I'll never forget. I was admiring a striking piece and happened to ask James about it. Without missing a beat, he smiled and said it used to sit in his childhood bedroom. That moment floored me. It was such a wow. We love telling wedding stories, but we especially love when they let you peek into someone's childhood, into the rooms and rituals that shaped who they are. It's inspiring. It's real. And it's such an honour.

We've held this film with quiet care. Our hearts have been with Ané and James through every frame, every moment. One of the songs in their highlight film, All Things Bloom, couldn't have described them more perfectly. Because this is exactly what their love feels like:

“To bloom. To grow. To light every room.
Every winter before was preparing them for this.
A moment of beauty. A moment of growth.”

This film, like their love, is blooming. And it’s been our absolute honour to witness it.
